Get ready for changes to National Minimum Wage rates

Draft regulations were published on 6 February 2018, setting out proposed changes to National Minimum Wage (NMW) rates.  According to the regulations, with effect from 1 April 2018, the applicable NMW rates will be as follows:

·       National Living Wage Rate (25 and over) - £7.83

·       Standard Adult Rate (21 to 24) - £7.38

·       Development Rate (18 to 20) - £5.90

·       Young Workers Rate (Under 18s) - £4.20

·       Apprentices Rate - £3.70

·       Accommodation Offset - £7.00 per day

Whilst we’re on the subject of rate changes, with effect from 6 April 2018:

·       the maximum compensatory award for unfair dismissal will rise from £80,541 to £83,682; and

·       the limit on a week's pay for statutory redundancy payment purposes will increase from £489 to £508.
