DWP provides support to businesses facing redundancies

Employment Law

For some time now we have been living with the threat of large-scale redundancies as a result of the COVID-19 outbreak and the resulting recession. So where should businesses be looking for guidance and support right now?

New DWP webpage launched

The Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) has brought together a number of useful resources aimed at assisting employers with the process of conducting a fair redundancy consultation procedure. There are factsheets, together with links to guidance and information provided by the likes of ACAS, HMRC and The Insolvency Service. The latter will be of particular relevance to those employers who anticipate needing to make at least 20 people redundant in any period of 90 days. In cases such as these, additional notification, information and consultation obligations arise, which require very careful thought.

The link to the new ‘hub’ can be found here:

Nothing like tailored advice

Of course, resources like this can be very helpful. However, they are no replacement for taking specifically tailored legal advice on your particular circumstances and needs. If you would like to have a chat with us about the challenges you are facing (as the furlough scheme is gradually wound up), then contact us on (01293) 596931 or at employment@stevensdrake.com
